UPDATE 21 November 2016:
Sonia has found her forever home with a young man in Durham Region. Their initial “meet & greet” was an outstanding success and Sonia took to her new owner immediately. We are fully confident that this will prove to be the right match for all concerned.
Congratulations Sonia!

Original Post:
Sonia is a lovely, well trained dog who has bonded closely with her present family. Unfortunately, the eighteen month old in the household truly adores this girl and subsequently treats her somewhat like a big play toy. Tugging at Sonia’s ears, chasing her around the house and, all in all, not allowing the poor dog a moment’s peace is 100% understandable behaviour on the part of the toddler, but makes life very difficult for Sonia.
The decision, therefore, to re-home Sonia was a difficult one but absolutely necessary. Eight years of age and spayed, this black and tan Doberman Pinscher would make a wonderful addition to most any family.
Sonia does have Von Willebrand disease ( the canine equivalent of Hemophilia) but requires no ongoing medication. Her new owner would, however, need to ensure that she not chew on Rawhide or engage in any type of rough play that could result in bleeding (either internal or external).
Sonia is extremely calm by nature so walking her is a pleasure. A dominant dog, she would welcome a submissive canine in her new home and presently resides with an adult cat.
It is our hope that Sonia’s new family will be familiar with her breed. A mature, active single or couple with no young children (teenagers would be fine) could prove to be the ideal match.
