The Oasis team was saddened to hear in the news today that a puppy mill has been uncovered in Clarington.
As reported by Kristen Calis on durhamregion.com, the operation was uncovered after a tip from the public to the Humane Society of Durham Region. Upon investigation, 31 small breed dogs were found on the property living in filthy, unacceptable conditions.
We know puppy mills exist across Canada – in fact we’re about to publish our own series of blog articles to help build awareness of puppy mills – but we’re still surprised when one turns up so close to home, in our own community.
Luckily, the Humane Society of Durham Region has now rescued this group of dogs that have had a very bad start in life and local volunteers have pitched in to show them that their two-legged friends can indeed be friends.
The durhamregion.com article says: For information on the dogs call 905-665-7430 or visit them at 1505 Wentworth St. in Whitby.
To our dear Oasis Animal Rescue and Education Center supporters, please share this unfortunate news and help these cute little rescue dogs to find new forever homes.
