Welley, an Australian Shepherd/Labrador Retriever cross who is neutered and up-to-date on all vaccinations, lived with the same family from the time he was an eight week old puppy.

Now 12 1/2 years of age, Welley quite understandably has begun to show signs of slowing down. We believe that was the primary reason this handsome boy was dumped by his original family at a Montreal shelter and left to his fate.

A sad, disturbing situation for any loyal, faithful canine companion to find themselves in. Thankfully the folks at this particular facility proved to be compassionate and empathetic to Welley’s plight and reached out to Oasis who welcomed Welley with open arms.

Welley absolutely loves the snow and will play in it happily alone or with another calm canine. He is a quiet, laid back dog who gets along well with everyone but is a bit wary of boisterous young children. We would therefore recommend an “adult only” household with or without teenagers who can respect Welley’s boundaries. We are not aware of how Welley might interact with cats but don’t suspect that, at his age, there should be a problem.

Welley is very affectionate and requires a relatively tranquil household in which to spend the balance of his “golden years”. Because his original humans let him down so badly does not mean that there is not another loving, attentive family just around the corner who would be thrilled to embrace Welley for many years to come.
