We have a young Great Dane currently at the shelter for whom we are looking for placement.
His name is Scooby, he is 1 year and a half.
Scooby is very sweet but needs some training. He can be intense in play.
He was adopted but recently returned to us because the previous owner had a difficult time managing him. He seemed to be leash reactive in his previous home and his size prevented her from managing him. He also seemed to have some resource guarding with food and toys.
She did also mention that he is a good boy at the dog park but can be intense in his play – not reading cues when to stop and does not seem conscious of his size. She seemed to say that he still needs potty training. He seems to have some separation anxiety when left alone for longer than 5-6 hours.
We believe that Scooby needs an home experienced with this breed to thrive. He is still very young and very sweet. He is definitely a shelter favourite.
